Allen Price has been engaged by global industrial gases company Air Liquide to assist in obtaining planning approvals for the proposed CO2 Plant and associated works at the Old Paper Mill site at Bolong Road Bomaderry.
On 4 April 2025 the Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure issued their Secretary Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project which identify what information is to be included as part of the Environmental Impact Statement.
The project will seek to capture and purify CO2 generated as a coproduct from Shoalhaven Starches ethanol production process into food and beverage grade Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LiCO2).
The proposal triggers the criteria for State Significant Development (SSD) under “Chemical, manufacturing and related industry” classification of the State Environmental Planning Policy (Planning Systems) 2021.
Key points of our involvement:
- Early input on design development: Articulation of development options and relevant planning controls
- Liaising with Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure at the Pre Lodgement phase to ensure that the design and the response to planning controls are understood and supported.
- Preparation of town planning reports including Scoping Report and Environmental Impact Statement.
