Allen Price was engaged to prepare a Development Application to permit the use of 30m A-double and B-double vehicle access at a freight facility in Banksmeadow. This upgrade enhances operational efficiency by enabling higher payload capacities, reducing the number of trips needed to complete freight tasks.
Our scope of work included working closely with the client, Transport for NSW, the landowner and transport consultant to prepare an amending development application which would allow the applicant to retain the approved consent while amending the detailed component of that approved development through a separate application in accordance with section 4.17 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
The use of longer 30m A-double and B-double trucks contributed to reducing the number of trips required to perform the same freight tasks due to their high payload capacity. Having fewer heavy vehicles in the network translated to less exposure to other road users, and less potential for pavement wear and other public infrastructure damage. The enhanced freight facility was approved in early 2024.
